Kenneth John Sekscenski
1948 - 2013

Kenneth John Sekscenski, 64, of Higganum, died with peace while surrounded by his loving family on September 26, 2013. He was born in New Britain; son of Walter and Beatrice Hird Sekscenski.

He was honorably discharged as Sergeant E5 from the United States Army and stationed in Europe for 3 years. In July of 1979 he was married to Yvonne Ross at his childhood home in Cromwell, and moved on to raise a family of three sons in Higganum. While enjoying the fine sport of Horseshoes, he co-founded the Haddam Horseshoe League, a position he proudly held for 25 years serving as President. Ken was an accomplished banjo player in the Bluegrass community for 16 years. Together with his wife and many loving and supporting friends, they helped to formulate "Charter Oak Bluegrass". Of all the positions and offices Kenneth held, none was more special to his heart than that of being called to father 3 caring and respectful sons all while being a devoted husband and best friend to his endeared and beloved wife of 34 years.

In addition to many special nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, he leaves a legacy of love, hope, and courage with his grandchildren, Timothy Sekscenski, Logan Marie and Nathan Sekscenski, for which will always be remembered as "Papa". He also leaves a brother Lawrence and his wife Joann of Kensington, Laura O'Brien of Belleview, Florida, and Janet Danis and her husband Paul of New Britain. He is also survived by his in-laws, Robert and Jean Connelly of Middletown, John Ross and Judy Thompson of Kenmore, WA. Kenneth is pre-deceased by his father Walter and mother Beatrice Sekscenski.
