Janice Groeper Carlson
1943 - 2025

Janice Groeper Carlson passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, with her sons by her side, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Richard Carlson and the daughter of the late Gerald W. and Ellen (Baroni) Groeper. Born in Middletown and raised in Cromwell, Janice lived in Wallingford for 50 years. After graduating from Cromwell High School, she attended secretarial school and began her career working for the Atomic Energy Commission and later for NASA during the 1960s. She went on to serve in various roles for the Wallingford Board of Education.

A devoted wife and mother, Janice, was deeply involved in her sons' lives, serving as Den Mother in their Cub Scout packs and helping to organize many Wallingford TWIST soccer tournaments. She loved traveling with her husband, enjoying many memorable trips to Cape Cod, Atlantic City, Aruba, and numerous cruises with their close group of friends. Janice was a proud and loving grandmother who rarely missed a school, sporting, or scouting event.

Janice is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Patricia (Young) Carlson and Wayne and Stephanie (Traskos) Carlson, all of Middletown; her grandchildren John, Benjamin, Nicholas, Daniel, Melissa, and Jacob Carlson; her brother, Gerald Groeper; her sister-in-law, Barbara (Carlson) Bartalotta; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at The Atrium at Rocky Hill and The Residence at Ferry Park for their compassionate care of our mom.
