Timothy Allan Spotts
1989 - 2018


Timothy Allan Spotts, husband to Melanie Jean (Rossignol) passed away suddenly in Denver, Colorado on May 15, 2018. He was born in Hartford Hospital on May 16, 1989 to Karen (Aitken) Spotts and Allan D. Spotts. Tim was a 2007 graduate of Cromwell High School. After graduating, he attended college in North Carolina.

In March of 2009, Tim enlisted into the United States Navy. After extensive training in San Diego, Pensacola, and Jacksonville FL, Tim earned the designation of Naval Air crewman-Flight Engineer. Tim received orders to Faireconron-1 (VQ-1) at NAS Whidbey Island, WA. Tim deployed with multiple EP-3E Combat Reconnaissance Crews in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and numerous campaigns in the Middle East and North Africa. Tim was honorably discharged after six years of service in March of 2015 at the rank of Petty Officer Second Class.

After his discharge, he enrolled at the University of Colorado-Denver. Tim graduated Summa Cum Laude on May 12, 2018 with a B.S. in Chemistry certified by the American Chemical Society and a B.S. in Integrative Biology. He was named the Outstanding Bachelor of Science graduate for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and received awards as Outstanding Biochemistry student and Outstanding graduating senior in the Department of Chemistry. He was looking forward to attending the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in the fall of 2018.

Tim loved to travel, ski, hike, and ice climb with Melanie and their friends. He especially enjoyed good beer after their adventures.

Along with his wife and parents, Tim is survived by his maternal grandmother Eileen Aitken of Newington CT, his Aunt and Godmother, Joanie Aitken, of Raleigh NC, Godfather Mark Russak of Berlin CT, parents-in-law Norman and Brenda Rossignol of Portland CT, sister and brother-in-law Robyn Rossignol and Ryan Ducki of Middletown CT. Tim also leaves his best friend since the age of 4 months, Aaron Saunders of Middletown.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25 at 6:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. Family and friends may call on Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm before the service.

Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00 am in the State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown where full military honors will be accorded.
