James Spurlin
1970 - 2017
James "Diego" Spurlin, of Cromwell, CT, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the age of 47.
James was a gifted artist, who graduated from the Propersi School of Art in Greenwich, CT. He worked as a tattoo artist for most of his life, most recently in the Unwritten Tradition Tattoo Shop in Stafford Springs. He leaves an enduring legacy of his incredible talent on the thousands of people he tattooed over the years.
James was a dedicated father to his sons, and passed on his quick wit, great sense of humor, and kindness to both of his boys. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. James is survived by his sons, Zachary Spurlin of New Britain, CT and Jacob Spurlin of Vernon, CT; his sister, Jennifer Dupuis; and nephews Andrew and Adam Dupuis.
He is predeceased by his father, Jim Spurlin and his mother, Linda (Goodrich) Spurlin. A memorial service celebrating James' life will take place on Saturday, August 26th, 1:00 p.m. at the Middletown Elks Lodge on Maynard Street in Middletown.
