Susan Lee "Suzie" Franklin
Born in Middletown, CT on Apr. 27, 1962
Departed on Dec. 26, 2006 and resided in Middlefield, CT.
On Tuesday December 26th, Susan Lee Frankin departed this life for a better one in heaven as one of God's special angels. Susan was a resident of Middlefield, for the past six years and was a proud communicant of St. Coleman Church. She loved her Middlefield home. Prior to this Susan lived many years in Middletown and Cromwell.
Susan was a natural-born leader, very good at motivating everyone and anyone around her to accomplish many things. Early in her career she worked in property management for Sutton Towers and for Colonial Realty. Her true vocation, however, was in sales as a Jafra cosmetic consultant and manager for almost twenty years. Jafra provided her with the perfect blend of salesmanship and beauty products. She was a natural.
She was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer in April 2003 and underwent multiple, invasive chemo and radiation treatments, which she strongly believed was well worth it, if one day, even just one person benefited as a result. Although the past few years were tough on her, she never gave up, she always had hope and often she would have to coach her friends and family into believing everything was going to be alright.
She was a highly skilled cook and baker. Suzie was a night owl who absolutely loved the peace and serenity the nighttime brought.
She leaves behind an army of heart-broken devotees. She leaves her closest confidant, her brother David Franklin; the love of her life, nephew Joseph “Jo-jee” Franklin, her five parents: father and step-mother: Bill and Diane Franklin, mother and step-father: Joanne and Eric Andrews, her beloved step-Dad, John Shea; her brother, Wade Franklin and his girls: Kayla and Kari Franklin; her niece, Christine Franklin; loving aunts, uncles and cousins; her two close friends and loving guardians, Kim Gross and Nicole Bongiovianni, who were instrumental in caring for Suzie during the toughest times; and numerous good friends than it seems humanly possible to be connected to. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Laurel Franklin and her parental grandparents, Bill and Edith Franklin, and her maternal grandparents, Tony Domingos and Marica Howeson, all of whom have been busily welcoming her to her new home in heaven.
People just loved Suzie. She was kind, compassionate, and a keenly perceptive and an active listener. She could make anyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. Suzie breathed in friends like the rest of us do air. Her friends were her life-line.
Suzie’s family and friends would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and the staff at Middlesex Hospital for being so kind and giving to Suzie during her time of need. We are truly grateful for the love and compassion you provided to our girl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1004, Meriden, 06450 or the Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center, 540 Saybrook Road, Suite 280, Middletown, CT 06457.
