Thomas Slater
1954 - 2012
Thomas H. Slater, 58 years of age, passed away 6 May 2012, due to a heart attack at his home in Shertz, Texas.
Tom was born in March 1954, at Hartford Hospital, and attended Cromwell schools since 5th grade, while living at the formerly named, Cromwell Childrens Home on Hicksville Road.
Tom retired as a Master Sergeant (E8) from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service as a Military Policeman. Thereafter, Tom worked as an Information Technolgy Specialist contractor for Mantech Corporation. He was assigned and embedded with U.S. Forces in Afghanistan since September 2011, where he was providing IT support, when he succumbed suddenly in Texas while home on vacation.
Tom led a very private life, and he most enjoyed being at home with his loving wife Ruth Ann Slater, and visiting his son Thomas H. Slater Jr., with his grandson Clayton Slater.
Tom is predeceased by his father - Kenneth L. Slater Sr; mother - Adelaide Rita Rogers; and is survived by his sisters Alice Slater in Gastonia, NC; Florence Luke in Trenton, NJ; Dr. Theo Oppermann in Brookline, MA; Bonnie Martinez in South Windsor, CT; Laura Bletso in Cortland, OH; and his brothers Kenneth (Jr) in Cocoa Beach, FL, and Leo in Niederkleen, Germany.
Tom's family requests prayers for his soul to be lifted.
