Dean Goodwin




Dean L. Goodwin, 57, of Marietta GA, formerly of Cromwell, passed away on Friday, (January 21, 2005) after a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late William and Esther Goodwin, Dean lived most of his life in Cromwell before moving to Marietta 20 years ago. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Cromwell. Dean graduated from Cromwell High School in 1965. He went on to Hartford State Tech to receive an AS degree in Data Processing and attended the University of New Haven, earning a BS degree in Business Administration. While living in Connecticut, Dean worked for the Hartford Courant as a CICS Administrator/Senior Programmer. In Georgia he worked for Wang, McGraw-Hill and most recently for Metamor Industry Solutions as a Technical trainer/helpdesk analyst, contracting for the Georgia Dept. of Education. Dean spent many years involved with the YMCA Camp Hazen in Chester, starting as a camper in 1957. He became a leader in training and went on to become a councilor. He later worked as an assistant chef and finally became a member of the board of directors before moving to Georgia. His love of cooking and baking brought him and his friends and family much joy and amusement. He also enjoyed attending and participating in Renascence Festivals throughout the United States. Dean will be dearly missed by his two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Catherine Goodwin of Enfield and Robert and Francia Goodwin of Cromwell and four beloved nephews, who will remember him for his generous spirit. Dean will also be missed by a large circle of close, wonderful friends in Georgia.
