Robert Niesyn

I used to live downtown over Oberg's Store, which was torn down in the early 60's. We moved to Grace Lane in 1962 and I still live in that house.

I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1965-1969, then did three years in the Army Band.

Upon returning to Cromwell in 1972, I went to work "temporarily" for the Town of Cromwell. Well, 35 years later I am still there, working as the Engineering Technician and assistant to the Director of Public Works. For many years I played in bands at night, working with many nationally known jazz recording artists including Trombonist Bill Lowe and Tony Bennett.

Upon "retiring" from the music business I went to work, nights and weekends, for the railroad as a freight train conductor and worked with CONRAIL, Connecticut Central and Central New England railroads.

#4 Conductor on Connecticut Central RR Engine #53 at Middletown - 1998

I now do consulting work for several railroads on a part time basis, as I await retirement from the Town of Cromwell, hopefully in the next 4 years.
