I graduated in '60 and went to MIT for 6 years and 3 degrees in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science. Got married in '64 to Nancy Bruce from our high school class. Designed computers for a small co. in Boston for 9 years and then went to Digital Equipment Corp. in '75. MBA in '79. DEC moved me to southern NH and I ran various engineering, marketing, and product management groups for 17 years.
We had one daughter in 1966. Diana went to Mount Holyoke College (psychobiology). Married in 1991, MBA in '96 from Boston College, she worked in marketing for several pharmaceutical companies in London and NJ until 4 years ago when she had a son Karl Cooper Fischer. Her husband is an architect who does mostly zoo work and some teaching.
Digital Equipment was a great place to work but it got into financial trouble in the early 90s. They had cutbacks, etc., and in '92 they offered an early retirement package...I was 50 and eligible by 2 weeks!! Had never thought about retiring, never wanted to, but took the offer for the health benefits and assumed I would go back to work for another 20 years. But... never got around to it. Too many other things to do. Took me 4 or 5 years to admit that I wasn't going back but I finally got there. 17 years now and it went like a flash.
I've gone through a lot of hobbies and sports over the years. My knees and shoulders are paying for all the mountain bike accidents.
Currently genealogy and photography take the most time. Still hike, canoe, and try to compete at indoor rowing. Nancy and I have traveled a bit and look forward to more. The new grandson is an interesting addition at this time in life.
I have really enjoyed Sue's web site and the memories it brings back. I hope everyone will go through their files and share their old photos with the rest of us.
