After graduation, Brad joined the Navy, stationed aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) until honorably discharged in 1964. He moved to Bridgeport, CT, where he worked as an Insurance Adjuster and a mechanic, but spending all of his free time building race cars and racing Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). He raced MGs with his team, the "Nice Guys" (they even changed the "MG" logos on the race cars to "NG". He married in 1968 and had two children. Brad spent over 25 years in Florida where he was very active in camping, canoeing and just about any other outdoor activity. He passed away in 1990 from complications with juvenile diabetes and his memorial is in St. Petersburg, Florida
