Clara Jean (Sekscenski) Buggie, 81, of East Hartford, wife of the late James A. Buggie, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. Death was due to cardiac arrest. Born in Cromwell Dec. 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Faustyn A. Sekscenski and Maryanna Trzcinska.
Clara lived most of her life in East Hartford. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1944, was employed by Fafnir Bearing Co. during the war and later at First Federal Savings in East Hartford as a bank teller. Clara spent most summers with her family at Hammonasset Beach. While her husband was alive, she enjoyed traveling and square dancing. She was an avid golfer and member of the Tallwood Women's Golf League. Clara was a big fan of the UConn women's basketball team. In her later years, she was an accomplished quilter, and leaves numerous quilts to her children and grandchildren.
Clara is survived by her four children, James A. Buggie Jr. of Bluffton, S.C., Edward T. Buggie of Hebron, Linda S. Marino of McMurray, Pa., and Jean B. Van Arnam of Waterford; two sisters, Sophie M. Zembruski of Naugatuck and Frances M. Toussaint of Cromwell; a brother, Henry Sekscenski of Cromwell; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Francis, Stanley, Edward and Lawrence; and two sisters, Rose Cassella and Helen Haniewski.
Calling hours at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill, will be Monday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. For directions call (860) 529-3381.
A Mass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m., at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell, with the Rev. Mitchell Sawicki officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
