~ Gladys Irene Mortensen Rich ~

Gladys Irene (Mortensen) Rich, 92, of Cromwell, wife of the late Cartlon B. Rich who died in 1993, passed away on Tuesday, July 13th at Apple Rehab in Middletown after a long illness. She was born in Cromwell to the late Albert and Irene (Anderson) Mortensen, and lived in Cromwell all her life.
Gladys was a member of the Hilltop Covenant Church of Cromwell, serving in several capacities, including organist, for many years. She had also been Secretary of the Board of Directors at The Cromwell Children's Home. Prior to retirement from Fenner America in Middletown in 1982, she had been employed by that firm and its predecessor companies for forty-seven years.
She is survived by her nephew and his wife, Robert and Sandra Rich, who were also her caregivers; a grand niece and her husband, Debra and Ben Gidman; a great great nephew, Aaron Gidman; great great niece, Sidney Gidman, all of Cromwell and several cousins.
At Gladys's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. There will be a private graveside service at the convenience of the
family in East Cemetery in Cromwell. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to the Hilltop Covenant Church Memorial Fund, 82 Hicksville Road, Cromwell, CT 06416.
